Service Positions
International Service Meeting (ISM) Chair
Â
The International Service Meeting is led by a Chair, elected to one-year terms. The Chair facilitates ISM meetings, helps ensure that all voices are heard, and work with the Secretary to prepare meeting agendas. If you are interested in serving as Chair or Co-Chair, please attend an upcoming ISM or contact the ISM Secretary.
Â
International Service Meeting (ISM) Secretary
Â
The International Service Meeting is supported by a Secretary, elected to one-year terms. The secretary prepares meeting agendas in collaboration with the Chair and/or Co-Chairs, record meeting minutes, and help maintain fellowship records and communications related to the ISM. If you are interested in serving as Secretary or Co-Secretary, please attend an upcoming ISM or contact the current Secretary.
Â
Web Services Coordinator
Â
OCA's website and digital services are maintained by one or more Web Services Coordinators. Coordinators may serve terms of up to two years, though shorter commitments are welcome.
Â
Web Services Coordinators maintain the OCA website, online meeting information, email systems, and other digital resources that support the fellowship such as our Zoom account. They may make routine updates consistent with existing group conscience decisions. Significant changes or new initiatives are brought to the ISM for discussion and approval.
Â
If you are interested in serving in this role, please attend an upcoming ISM or contact the current Secretary.
Â
Treasurer
Â
OCA is served by a Treasurer, elected to one-year terms. A Treasurer maintains fellowship financial records, tracks contributions and expenses, and provides regular financial reports to the ISM.
Â
Treasurers do not make independent spending decisions on behalf of the fellowship. New expenses and major financial commitments are approved through the group conscience process of the ISM.
Â
If you are interested in serving as a Co-Treasurer, please contact the ISM.
Â
Email Responders
Â
Email Responders help answer inquiries received through OCA's website and email accounts. This service may include providing information about meetings, resources, literature, sponsorship, committees, or directing inquiries to the appropriate trusted servants.
Â
The time commitment is generally light, averaging 15–30 minutes per week. Members should have a basic familiarity with OCA and its resources.
Â
If you are interested in serving as an Email Responder, please contact the fellowship.
Â
Group Service Representatives (or GSR's)
Â
Group Service Representatives (GSRs) are elected by individual OCA meetings to represent their group's conscience at the International Service Meeting. GSRs help ensure that fellowship-wide decisions reflect the experience, strength, and hope of the groups they serve.
Â
Each meeting is encouraged to determine its own requirements, responsibilities, and term lengths for GSR service.
Committees
Literature Committee
Â
The Literature Committee develops and maintains literature that supports OCA's primary purpose of carrying the message of recovery from obsessive-compulsive and related disorders.
Â
Committee projects may include workbooks, pamphlets, meeting materials, recovery stories, and other fellowship-approved resources. Participation is open to all members.
Â
If you are interested in contributing or have questions regarding existing literature or current projects, please email oca.literature@gmail.com.
Â
Safety Committee
Â
The Safety Committee supports OCA's commitment to creating recovery spaces that are welcoming, respectful, and as safe as possible for all members. The committee serves as a resource for members, groups, and trusted servants who have concerns related to safety, boundaries, anonymity, harassment, disruptive behavior, or other issues that may impact participation in the fellowship.
Â
The committee may assist with individual safety concerns occurring within OCA meetings or in OCA-related interactions outside of meetings when those concerns affect participation in the fellowship. The committee provides guidance, support, resources, and recommendations while respecting the autonomy of individual groups and the principles of the Twelve Traditions.
Â
Because safety concerns often involve sensitive personal information, they are not typically discussed in open committee meetings or public service meetings. When appropriate, concerns are reviewed by a small group of designated committee members to protect confidentiality and the privacy of those involved. The committee may provide reports or recommendations to the International Service Meeting when fellowship-level action or guidance is needed.
Â
Information regarding committee contacts can be found on our Safety in OCA page.
